The fact that you can't dodge forward or backwards makes Nero feel absolutely sluggish. Also if you play other DMC games. Don't play DMC 2. Just pretend it doesn't exist. It's horrible and contributes absolutely nothing to the series outside of the extended universe. There's an option on the title screen called "History of DMC", which is a brief and basic explanation of what happened throughout the previous games. The emphasis on "brief and basic". First, use Trickster for gap closing. Once upgraded far enough you can teleport to the enemy you have targeted. As for air juggling, you'll need Swordmaster for extra slash variance. Having enemy step, double jump, and advanced trickster will enable the crazy constant air juggling. Hope that helps a bit. The levels are balanced around the character you play them as, so for example trying to beat Cavaliero Angelo with V might be really hard compared to Dante since that boss was designed to be beaten with Dante and his extended moveset which includes guarding and dodging unlike V and Nero.
